Preserving The Sound

A guide to record longevity and high-fidelity maintenance.

📚

The Golden Rule: Vertical Storage

"Always store your records upright. Stacking them horizontally (flat) creates immense pressure that leads to warping and 'ring wear' on the cover art. Think of them like books on a shelf."

Handle by the Edges

"Oil from your fingers attracts dust and promotes mold growth in the grooves. Always handle records by the outer edges and the center label. Never touch the playing surface."

🛡️

Anti-Static Sleeves

"Standard paper sleeves are abrasive and create paper dust. Upgrade to anti-static 'rice paper' or poly-lined inner sleeves to prevent micro-scratches every time you slide the record out."

🧹

Carbon Fiber Brushing

"Use a carbon fiber brush before and after every play. This removes surface dust and discharges static electricity, preventing that 'crackle' sound and keeping your stylus clean."

Deep Cleaning 101

1

Avoid Tap Water: Always use distilled water. Tap water contains minerals that can settle deep in the grooves and harden.

2

Microfiber Only: Use a clean, lint-free microfiber cloth. Move in a circular motion following the direction of the grooves.

3

Air Dry: Ensure the record is completely dry before returning it to its sleeve to prevent any moisture buildup.
